Background for this topic.

A vulnerability is a weakness in a system’s design, code, configuration, or operating process that could allow an attacker to violate a security requirement. It may affect software, hardware, networks, cloud services, or exposed interfaces, and is not automatically exploitable: practical risk depends on factors such as exposure, required privileges, available attack paths, and existing controls. Outcomes can include unauthorized access, information disclosure, code execution, or disruption of service.

Effective vulnerability management combines accurate asset inventory with code review, security testing, scanning, and trusted vulnerability intelligence. Organizations should prioritize weaknesses affecting reachable, business-critical systems—especially when exploitation is known or requires little access—then patch or otherwise mitigate them and verify the fix. Where patching is delayed, controls such as disabling an exposed feature, restricting network access, or strengthening authentication can reduce the attack surface. Records should preserve affected versions, risk decisions, remediation owners, and validation results.

Slack Patches Prompt Injection Flaw in AI Tool Set

Hackers Could Exploit Bug to Manipulate Slack AI's LLM to Steal DataChat app Slack patched a vulnerability in its artificial intelligence tool set that hackers could have exploited to manipulate an underlying large language model to phish employees and steal sensitive data. Slack said it was a low-severity bug.

Why go to the effort of backdooring code when devs will basically do it for you accidentally anyway SolarWinds left hardcoded credentials in its Web Help Desk product that can be used by remote, unauthenticated attackers to log into vulnerable instances, access internal functionality, and modify sensitive data…

How to Mitigate Downgrade Attacks Against Windows Systems

SafeBreach's Alon Leviev on How Organizations Can Reduce the Likelihood of ExploitsSafeBreach security researcher Alon Leviev discusses how downgrade attacks expose vulnerabilities in Windows systems. He shares insights into how attackers manipulate Windows Update processes and stresses the importance of monitoring and securing critical system components to prevent exploitation.

As many as 15,000 applications using Amazon Web Services' (AWS) Application Load Balancer (ALB) for authentication are potentially susceptible to a configuration-based issue that could expose them to sidestep access controls and compromise applications

What is Continuous Attack Surface Penetration Testing or CASPT? Continuous Penetration Testing or Continuous Attack Surface Penetration Testing (CASPT) is an advanced security practice that involves the continuous, automated, and ongoing penetration testing services of an organization's digital assets to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities. CASPT is designed for enterprises with an

Ransomware Gangs Are in Decline But Still Make Lots of Noise

RedSense's Bohuslavskiy and Smith on How Attacks on Healthcare Show DesperationRedSense’s Yelisey Bohuslavskiy and Marley Smith believe ransomware is declining but caution that it still poses a significant threat. While attackers recycle old methods, they're taking desperate measures to target vulnerable groups such as cancer centers and to stoke fears in the marketplace.
