Background for this topic.

Brute Force

Brute Force is a method of trial-and-error used to obtain information such as a user password or personal identification number (PIN). In the context of information security, this technique involves systematically checking all possible combinations until the correct one is found. It is one of the simplest forms of attack, with minimal sophistication, relying on the sheer number of attempts rather than the cleverness of the strategy.

Attackers executing brute force attacks use software tools to generate a large number of consecutive guesses to gain unauthorized access to a system. These attacks are often used against web applications and online services, attempting to crack login credentials, encryption keys, or discover hidden web pages.

Due to the simplicity of the attack, many systems and applications are protected by countermeasures such as account lockouts and delays between attempts, which are specifically designed to prevent brute force attacks by increasing the difficulty and time required to succeed.

Why You Should Swap Passwords for Passphrases

The advice didn't change for decades: use complex passwords with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. The idea is to make passwords harder for hackers to crack via brute force methods. But more recent guidance shows our focus should be on password length, rather than complexity. Length is the more important security factor, and passphrases are the simplest way to get your users to create

Man-in-the-Middle Attack Prevention Guide

Some of the most devastating cyberattacks don’t rely on brute force, but instead succeed through stealth. These quiet intrusions often go unnoticed until long after the attacker has disappeared. Among the most insidious are man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks, where criminals exploit weaknesses in communication protocols to silently position themselves between two unsuspecting parties
